For the past three years, Jeanette Alvarado, 50, has relied on St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix to ensure her children have enough to eat since her husband's passing. She still works five days a week, but the loss of income has led her to seek assistance from the food bank and potentially apply for SNAP benefits.

However, a federal government shutdown has left over 950,000 Arizona residents without SNAP funding. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has provided emergency aid to keep SNAP running temporarily.

The political disputes have left many families in need struggling to access essential nutrition assistance.

Aris underwent life-changing brain surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital to treat her epilepsy and has been seizure-free for a year.

Prior to the surgery, Aris was experiencing multiple seizures daily and her quality of life was severely impacted.

The surgery successfully removed the portion of her brain responsible for the seizures, allowing her to lead a normal, seizure-free life.

Aris' story highlights the effectiveness of specialized pediatric care for children with epilepsy.
